Matthias Wojtynek
Matthias did his undergraduate studies at the University of Tübingen, where he was fascinated by the possibility of solving the structure of proteins using biophysical methods. He followed his passion at the Max-Planck Institute for Biology using X-ray crystallography to study an archaeal Ubiquitin system, and at the Novartis Institute for Biomedical Research in Basel using NMR to characterize protein-drug interactions. He carried out his PhD at the University of Zurich and the ETH, using cryo-FIB milling and cryo-electron tomography to study nuclear pore complex architecture and assembly inside cells. In the Weis Lab, he is applying a structural biology approach to study the evolution of the NPC.
In his free time he travels across Europe on his bike.
