Lorena Kronig
I did my Bachelor and Master studies in Biology here at ETH Zürich. My first introduction to the Weis lab in a Block course led to me join the Weis lab for a semester project and my Master thesis. In 2021 I started my PhD in the lab, allowing me to continue working on understanding the fascinating mechanisms employed by budding yeast during stress and aging. One part of my project is focused on the molecular players required for survival in specific stress conditions. Complementary to that, I want to add to the understanding of how the biophysical properties of the cytoplasm are modulated to deal with such challenging stress conditions. In addition to exploring yeast biology, I enjoy playing board games and roundnet, doing jigsaw puzzles and occasionally reading a good book.
