Arantxa Agote Arán
Arantxa did her PhD at the IGBMC in Strasbourg, France. There, her studies focused on the Fragile X Related protein family, which unexpectedly turned out to be related to correct nucleoporin localization. This finding plunged Arantxa into the nuclear pore complex (NPC) field, and she became intrigued by how an army of nucleoporins gets perfectly assembled into such an intricate complex. Now in the Weis lab, she is trying to find new assembly factors that help build the NPC in budding yeast.
