Congratulations to Renard for his terrific defence last week! He did an amazing job presenting his years of work on the role of inner nuclear membrane proteins in chromatin organisation, and the entire Kutay lab couldn’t be more proud!

Happy Christmas from the Kutay lab. We enjoyed a Christmas party with the current and previous members of the Kutay lab, including some tasty fondue, a pubquiz and of course good company.

This week we were delighted to welcome two new lab members: post-doc Matteo Rosellini and Master’s student Lisa Likhacheva! All the best to the both of them.

Yesterday Claudia successfully defended her thesis “Challenging ribosome biogenesis: from chemical inhibitor screening to quality control”! Congratulations Claudia on the culmination of 5 years of hard work, we’re all so proud!

Last week we had to say a fond farewell to Annamaria after 6 years in the Kutay lab! She was a fantastic group member and we wish her the very best of luck in her all her future endeavours!

We organised our yearly Happy hour, this time with the theme of Rick and Morty! Thanks to those who helped organise and to all those who came! We had a lot of fun.

We recently had a great lab retreat day at ETH Villa Hatt, with beautiful weather, a gorgeous view and good food!

We are excited to share our latest publication, using super-resolution to reveal the organisation of ER-associated Y complexes in mitosis. Congratulations to all authors, especially first author Roja!

The Weis lab graciously organised an IBC internal BikeToWork challenge to encourage more IBC members to take the bike to work! We achieved 88% BikeToWork days. In a random prize draw, the Kutay lab emerged victorious and we were happy to receive some prizes sponsored by the Weis lab. 

We again participated in the yearly SOLA relay race. We celebrated our performance with a well-deserved dinner afterwards.

Keiji will be visiting our lab for three months to learn our INM targeting assay. We wish him a fun and productive visit.
